CHAPTER 32

Carter

I moved away from her when the waiter brought out the meal. Otherwise, I would have been too tempted to lay her down and have my fill. We ate our meals in a comfortable silence and Reign remembered her manners this time. I could feel the electricity crackling all around us. She was incredible and everything I could want. It didn’t feel obligated to hide parts of myself from her, she’d snuff them out anyway. Reign was good that way. It bothered me that Tiana thought she could measure up to her, there was no competition. Reign was it. I didn’t think I was good enough to be worthy of her, but I damn sure wanted to be.

“How’s your steak?” she asked, covering her mouth with her napkin, just adorable.

“It’s exquisite, and your salmon?”

She giggled, “It’s delicious”

“What you laughing at?”

“Nothing—” she said smiling.

The waiter returned and I asked him for a bucket of ice, chocolate syrup, and some fresh fruit.

Reign whipped around and stared at me with her mouth wide open. Her lips shone in the dim lighting. I didn’t realize her hair was that long, it was shiny too. I studied every feature from her collarbone to her ankles, I never wanted this image to leave my head.

When the waiter scurried off, she glared at me, “What the hell is all that for?”

I smirked back, “I told you, wait until after we eat.”

Her eyes widened.

“Alex,” I addressed the waiter, “make sure no one comes in here until after we leave.” And I tipped him enough to cover his rent for next month.

I was finally alone with Reign, and I was going to go as far as she’d allow.

“Carter,” her voice sounded like velvet, I was entranced in her presence, and I didn’t think she had any idea of her power.

“Reign.”

“What’s about to happen?” she eyed the table.

“You’re my dessert, princess.”
